Last week, I was rushed to A&E with an irregular heartbeat and chest pains. I’d known deep down that something wasn’t right for a long time, but like so many of us, I kept pushing through. I ignored the symptoms, dismissed the fatigue, blamed the brain fog on stress, and told myself the weight gain and constant bloating were just part of getting older.
But my body had other plans. It had been quietly pleading with me to slow down, to nourish it properly, to care. And I didn’t. Not until I was forced to, lying on a hospital bed, wires on my chest, scared and overwhelmed. That moment changed everything.
It wasn’t just a health scare, it was a wake-up call. A line in the sand.
Over the past few days, I’ve lost 4 pounds, but more importantly, I’ve gained a new perspective. My doctor told me I had to cut out sugar, caffeine (my old faithful), and fizzy drinks. I’d relied on those for energy and comfort, a shortcut when everything felt too much. The withdrawal was brutal. Headaches, cravings, mood swings. But now, just one week in, I feel clearer. Lighter. More present.
This experience reminded me why we started Luna Selene in the first place: to create products and spaces for women just like us. Women juggling multiple roles, dealing with invisible illnesses like fibromyalgia and ADHD, working hard to build something meaningful, and sometimes losing sight of themselves along the way. Luna Selene was born from that very need: a reminder to pause, to care for ourselves deeply, and to reclaim our glow.
But sometimes, even with the best intentions, we need a little extra nudge.
As a brand designer, I understand the intricacies of creating a brand, carefully crafting the visuals, the message, and the tone. All woven together to present exactly what the brand stands for. It’s about clarity, consistency, and authenticity. And that’s when it hit me: why don’t I apply the same thoughtful approach to myself? To my own health and well-being? That’s how the idea of self-branding for wellbeing came into my head. What if I approached my health, habits, and daily choices the way I do a brand? With care, intention, and alignment. What if I treated myself like my most important project?
Late-night snacking because I’m too tired to cook? Not on brand.
Skipping fresh air and movement because I don’t have time? Not on brand.
Eating a nourishing breakfast and lunch? Very on brand.
Drinking water before reaching for caffeine? On brand.
Setting boundaries so I can protect my energy? Absolutely on brand.
It’s not about perfection. It’s about living in integrity with who we are and what we want to feel.
Self-branding for wellbeing means honouring the whole person — body, mind, and spirit — with the same care we give our businesses and the brands we create. It means asking ourselves: What does my best self feel like? What choices bring me closer to her?
I’m sharing this because I believe in the power of community, vulnerability, and real journeys. Luna Selene was built to be a companion for women on that path. And I’m walking it right alongside you.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, know you’re not alone. Sometimes we just need a little reminder to come back home to ourselves.
This is my reset. My rebrand. My promise to practice what I preach.
It’s a brand new day.
Be your own brand.
With love,
Anni
